What Eugene says in this clip
At a rally in New City ahead of a Planning Board meeting, Eugene says overdevelopment is reaching every hamlet in Clarkstown and focuses on the Cedar Corners application in Congers: warehouse complexes of roughly 560,000 square feet that would replace wooded land with paved parking, with diesel trucks running near Lakewood Elementary School.
He argues that the projects before the Town do not serve residents. They are not the affordable housing the town needs, they are not environmentally sound, and with vacant warehouses already nearby, they are not needed. He asks who benefits, pointing to out-of-town developers and to developers who have contributed to the elected officials who appoint the Planning Board, and says the Board must give strong weight to the hundreds of residents who oppose the plan.
